Boxes, Scones, and Lucy

Well, here we are.

10 days out of school (teaching).

12 days until our wedding.

15 days until we move (6 states away from where we are now).

How many days until I lose my sanity ,you ask?

Just kidding. I’m only having dreams about being eaten by boxes, but other than that I’m staying positive about the whole thing.

Actually, most days I look like my dog, Lucy, in this photo below.

I know, she’s adorable- you may not have her.

Life is SO CRAZY RIGHT NOW. I needed to capitalize those words in case you couldn’t hear my serious tone. All jokes aside, there’s a lot happening at this moment, but I am really excited about all of it. I get to start fresh in a new state, with a new job, a new house, and hopefully another rescue pup (hint hint, fiance).

You might be saying, wait a minute, didn’t you just start fresh a year ago? Thank you kind observer, I did, but this has been a major year of change. The future hubster (don’t tell him I referred to him as this) and I were just chatting about how much you change after college. Many people think you change when you’re in college, but I think people forget that you also change when you finish it and are thrown into the real world. I’ve had some struggles with some relationships that I had in college lately, but I needed to recognize that we were both simply growing in different directions. It’s not a bad thing, but I know our relationship will probably not be the same because of it.

Can’t you tell I’ve had a lot of time on my hands to reflect? I’m not complaining- I love it (I’m also avoiding packing, but that’s a different story).

I’ve been able to do some hiking in my free time. I had a fabulous day with a friend catching up on our lives while we enjoyed creation. I love being outside, it is where I can feel God most. I mean, take a look at this- how awesome is it?

I’ve also been doing some reading. I’m currently reading, Talking As Fast As I Can by Lauren Graham. I swear she was born to play Lorelai Gilmore. I have to remind myself that Lorelai is the character and I’m reading words from a separate person because at times it feels like Lorelei Gilmore is talking to me. I’m about halfway through the novel and I’m truly enjoying the read.

On another note, my badass soul sister inspired me to attempt to make some scones today. I used some fresh peaches and a recipe from A Latte Food.  For my first time making scones, they didn’t turn out so bad. The fiance has had three of them in the last twenty minutes, so I think I can say they’re good.

If you’re wondering what badass soul sister I’m talking about, check out my good friend Kristen at

But be warned, you might leave her blog really hungry (her recipes/reviews are deliiiish).

Thanks for taking the time to read this post, feel free to comment with any adventures you might be having in your life right now!

  1. Your hiking photos look amazing! As does the scone.

Is your coffee cold-brew? With the heat-wave on the East Coast, iced coffee is a must. 🙂

Thank you for the shout-out! I love visiting your blog, too. I can’t wait to read more of your adventures as you move forward in all things #DogMom #Teacher #Writer and #Faith.

    1. It’s just iced coffee- I have a love/hate relationship with cold brew. You can really mess it up sometimes 🙄 (first world problems..)
      Thanks for the comment 😊
